New Features Visual BACnet

We are launching many new features including an enhanced device browser, two new diagnostic checks, Device Tool-tips and more!

As usual we have been working away on some exciting new features in Visual BACnet. Launching May 5th, 2017, Version 1.9 will have the following new features

Enhanced Device Browser

When available, the improved device browser will show you the edvice type, encapsulation and MAC address, in addition to the Device ID, BACnet Address, IP Address and Vendor ID. This added information helps you figure out exactly which device is causing problems, identify whose device it is, and find it in your physical system.

Advanced and team accounts can also export this information into a PDF or CSV file.

Device Detail Tool Tips

We want you to quickly and easily be able to figure out which device is causing problems. The less cross referencing with device lists and documentation the better. Hover over any device in the diagnostic drill downs to get more information – Vendor Name, Device ID, IP Address and MAC Address.

New Diagnostic Checks

We are adding one new diagnostic check to ensure your system is even more robust.

Low Hop Count: According to the BACnet Standard, the Hop Count of all devices must start at 255. Some devices are incorrectly set to start their Hop Count at 14. This Diagnostic Check will flag any sources with at least one packet with Hop Count value between 10 and 15.

Basic/Advanced Reports

We are introducing Advanced Reports for you to add to your service contracts or use at project handoff. These reports include the summary graphic, file information, a traffic graph, a list of the diagnostic checks and their values, and a list of the devices that are causing problems for each failed diagnostic check. These Advanced Reports will be available as an additional module for purchase. From May 5th – May 19th these reports will be free for all users to try out! Click here to see a sample report

All accounts will have access to a basic report with file information and the network health.

Multiple custom ports settings

Visual BACnet uses the standard BACnet ports BAC0 to BACF (47808-47823) when decoding for BACnet packets. If a capture contains BACnet packets on one or more non-standard ports, you can specify these additional ports in the settings below before uploading your files. Previously you could only specify 1 port, but now you can specify as many as you need.
